• Cautionary tale
    • RMS vs. Peak: You’re getting hit with peak
    • “Does voltage or amperage kill you?”: both – it’s wattage (work/heat).
    • Will you die?

  • Find the Uncle One with the AC/DC guy
  • DO NOT
    • Treat this like a hot stove or water; there’s no “let me just tap this…” like a shower; it’s instant.
    • Rely on insulated tools; may be easily mistaken for non-insulated, plus get in the, and only the, habit of using a stick
    • Let anybody near it, including pets
  • YOU NEED THE FOLLOWING:
    • Sign
    • Pocket
    • Wooden stick
    • Capacitor discharger
    • Safety glasses
      • If you already wear glasses, all set
      • Solder/flux
    • Diagnostic/measurement probing
      • Multimeters
      • Scopes – remove the ground clip (?)
      • Either way, if you are holding a probe, do not take your eyes off it!
        • There’s something about taking your eyes off of something that suddenly renders it “unsupervised”  “wandering”
        • I’ve had a probe slip from its contact point many times, and always when I take my eyes off to just glance at a reading.
        • Use clips – get some halfway decent ones. The MIC ones/standard “gators” are cheap and imprecise (comes back again to “precision” for tools; tight tolerances; chinese gator jaws are horrible, plus the metal/plating is questionable).
